The Messermeister Black Ceramic Sharpening Rod has an ultra-fine 2000 grit, ideal for aligning and polishing the knives, scissors and other cutting tools. Durable Black Ceramic is harder than conventional white ceramic or steel, to quickly restore and refine. The rod is engineered to work on even the hardest modern blade steels, with a break-resistant, bonded metal core, a large round sharpening surface, and an ergonomic handle with a hang ring.

Works like a charm. The ceramic is a great middle ground between the lesser honing of steel and the harsher effects of diamond rods and actual sharpening. Should save me a lot of sharpening time, and metal.
